Your first Crufts: Our top tips
Crufts, the world’s greatest dog show, is returning to the NEC Birmingham from 6-9 March 2025 and we can’t wait to welcome you!
If you’re planning your first-ever trip to Crufts, get ready for a whirlwind of dogs, exciting competitions, and a unique opportunity to connect with other dog lovers. With so much to see and do, it can feel a little overwhelming. But don’t worry – we’ve put together some of our top tips to help you make the most of your experience.
1. Plan ahead
Crufts spans five halls and features countless events, so a little planning goes a long way. Check out the What’s On guide on the Crufts website to pick your must-see activities. Whether it’s agility, flyball, or the Best in Show competition, having a rough schedule will ensure you don’t miss your favourites.
When you arrive, don’t forget to pick up an official Crufts show guide - an essential companion for navigating Crufts.
2. Pick your perfect day
Each day at Crufts focuses on each of the seven different groups of dogs:
Thursday: Hound & Terrier breeds
Our highlights: Heelwork to Music Competition, the West Midlands Police Display, the Breeders' Competition Final, and the exciting Terrier & Hound group judging!
Friday: Utility and Toy breeds
Our highlights: Agility Singles finals, Freestyle Heelwork to Music, Vulnerable Breeds Final, and the group judging for Utility and Toy.
Our highlights: the Southern Golden Retrievers Display Team, Heelwork to Music International, Agility Dog of the Year finals, the exciting Scruffts final, and of course, the Gundog judging!
Sunday: Pastoral and Working breeds
Our highlights: Agility, Flyball, Heelwork to Music, The Kennel Club Hero Dog Award, Pastoral and Working judging, and of course, crowning our Best in Show! (Please note that Sunday evening’s main arena events, including Best in Show requires a separate ticket, which can be purchased here).

Pro tip: If you’re able to, consider attending on Thursday or Friday when the event is quieter. It’s the perfect time to explore the halls without the weekend crowds.
3. Get there early
Doors open at 8:15 a.m. and with so much to see and do, arriving early is key to making the most of your day. Beat the crowds, secure good seats in the bp pulse LIVE arena, and have first dibs on those exclusive retail offers.
4. Dress Comfortably
The NEC is the UK’s largest exhibition venue, so comfortable footwear is a must. Dress in layers you can adjust throughout the day, as some areas can get warm (and others can be cold!). A small backpack or tote bag for essentials will also keep your hands free for all those doggy cuddles!

5. Pack smart
- Reusable bags: Many vendors don’t provide them, so come prepared for your shopping spree.
- Portable charger: Keep your phone battery topped up for photos, schedules, and navigation around the event.
- Snacks and water: The NEC has plenty of food options, but bringing your own can save time during busy periods.
- For heavy shoppers, a compact trolley can save your shoulders from carrying bulky bags all day.
6. Take regular breaks
With so much to see, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Take regular breaks to recharge and soak it all in. Seating areas are dotted around the venue, offering the perfect spot to pause and relax.
Whether you’re a dog enthusiast, a prospective owner, or just curious, Crufts is an amazing experience for all.
We can’t wait to see you there in March - let the countdown begin!
