Wirral dog and owner become Crufts Obedience Champions
Yoshi, a seven-year-old Border Collie, and his owner Julie Rowlands from Moreton, Wirral, took home one of the top obedience prizes at Crufts on Sunday 12 March after winning the Obedience Championship (dog) final. The judge was Lou Jackson.
Yoshi (Ob Ch Sarkam Douthinkhe Saurus), came first in the final held at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts, after competing against some of Britain’s best dogs for the coveted title.
All competitors at the championships had made it through to the final after qualifying at one of the championship shows that were held last year.
Proud owner Julie said: “To say I am so proud of Yoshi is an understatement! Yoshi gave me everything on the day. He is such an amazing boy and gives me so much pride.
“Winning the ultimate prize in our sport with Yoshi is a dream come true!”
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager said: “Congratulations to Yoshi and Julie on their very well-deserved Crufts win. Their strong bond and admirable teamwork was evident in the ring, and they both should be so proud of themselves.
“Obedience competitors come from far and wide in the UK to showcase their skills at the show and the standard of dogs and their handlers who enter are always very impressive.”
Crufts took place between 9 - 12 March 2023 at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information and results from the show, visit the Crufts website.
